Wrestlemania 36 Moved To WWE Performance Center
We’d been waiting and waiting for the official announcement on something. And the WWE finally released an official statement about 30 minutes before RAW went on the air. Wrestlemania is being moved to the Performance Center but will still take place on Sunday April 5. Here is the WWE’s official statement:
“In coordination with local partners and government officials, WrestleMania and all related events in Tampa Bay will not take place. However, WrestleMania will still stream live on Sunday, April 5 at 7 pm ET on WWE Network and be available on pay-per-view. Only essential personnel will be on the closed set at WWE’s training facility in Orlando, Florida to produce WrestleMania.”
WWE has since also said that NXT Takeover and the Hall of Fame will not take place. The Hall of Fame is a no brainer. Takeover kind of surprises me since most of those wrestlers are based in Florida.
Justin C’s Take: I hope they don’t try to do a full 15 match card. Keep it to the main matches you pretty much already have announced. No reason to go anymore than 8. I’m honestly surprised they didn’t try to get it on a major network like FOX. With no live sports it might have done big ratings, even in an empty arena with a rare setting.
This is going to hurt the Indy scene big time. Wrestlecon is already cancelled, and the promoter is going to lose a lot of money in the process.
