NXT UK 23.11.20

I don’t want to come across as a negative Nancy…but I really can’t tell the difference between the old belt and the new. It’s clearly subtle, but then…what’s the point? regardless of that, Imperium (Walter in particular) are a phenomenal faction and very deserving of the spotlight.

Ligero Vs Devlin (NXT Cruiserweight Title Fatal 4-Way Match)
I’m pretty confident as to how this match will end, but I’m backing the Yorkshireman regardless.

Given the opening few mins you could actually believe he could gain the win! Ligero went full throttle after the Irishman messed with the Luchadors mask to the point where Devlin was getting his ass handed to him all while still wearing his entrance jacket!

I suppose it’s to be expected when you have a man like Ligero in the ring, but some of these spots were spectacular. Subtle at first glance, but on the replay, you can really appreciate the skill and timing both men have.

The match did indeed end with Devlin gaining the win, but credit to Ligero for an excellent showing.

Josh Morrell Vs Ilja Dragunov

I’m not familiar with Morrell. He’s clearly very athletic & confident in the air, but can he hang with the Russian madman? in a word…no.

To his credit, he gave one hell of a show…but damn. That kick he took to the face. No chance of recovery. Dragunov gets the pin.

Travis Banks vs The Brian Kendrick (NXT Cruiserweight Title Fatal 4-Way Match)

I’ve never been a fan of Kendrick. I respect what he has brought to the (Cruiserweight) table, but I’m just not a fan of his character. Travis Banks, on the other hand, is awesome. He’s a hard hitter, a fan favourite and can definitely carry a title with conviction. He just needs the opportunity to show his worth and this is said opportunity.

My only problem is that, this match in particular was pretty slow. At least it seemed that way to me. Kendrick did a lot of work on Banks fingers whicch, from a wrestling/technical stand point is probably very beneficial, but from my fan point of view…not very exciting at all. I didn’t really like when Banks was dragged out of the ring, to the top of the ramp with the goal being Kendrick winning on a count out. Again, not a fan of him and his technique.

As much as I love The Kiwi Buzzsaw, i would have put money on him losing tonight. But he didn’t! Genuinelly shocked (but very pleasently surprised) that he went through. Very deserving so. Like I said, you can see Banks with Gold arounf his waist. He just needs that opportunity and time to shine.

Not the best show, but worth watching for the storytelling developments.
