Bumping Up…Nathan Cruz
Interviews can be a tricky topic. Not only do you have to create engaging content, but you also have to come up with questions that make for a cohesive read. And that’s all before you’re even able to find time in the interviewee’s busy schedule to ask the questions.
If it were an interview with someone you’re already aware of, then it’s more likely you will read it, right? But what about those you don’t know. You could be missing out on getting to know your next new favourite wrestler, and you wouldn’t even know it.
So, in order to spread the word on talent on the indie circuit, I got straight to the basics.
Bumping Up is here to point you in their direction and broaden your scope on new talent and promotions. If you like what you read, give them a follow & check out their next show. You never know where all this will take you.
So without further ado, let’s get down to brass tacks & introduce you to…
Name: Nathan Cruz
Hometown: Kingston Upon Hull
How many years have you been a professional wrestler? 13 (10 full time)
Who are your role models? (either currently or growing up) Growing up I was a huge fan of The Undertaker, Sting & Goldberg. Currently, it’s Chris Jericho, HHH & Henning.
Was this something you always wanted to do or did you slowly transition from ‘9-5’ to where you are now.
I always wanted to be a Pro Wrestler. My mind was made up after watching The Undertaker Vs HHH at WMX7 when I was 10 years old. The idea of doing anything outside of the entertainment industry is quite frankly terrifying.
What are your main goals for the next few years?
In all honesty, I’m happy to give back to a job that has given me so much since I started in 2006.
The only real thing left for me is Japan. A major contract with some big money would be nice, but I can’t see that happening anytime soon. The doors have been booted and no one is answering. Realistically, now, it’s all about helping new talent.
What’s your proudest achievement in your career so far?
Main evening the Hull City Hall with my childhood best friend. We used to watch wrestling together in that venue and we’ve been fortunate enough to main event it three times. We sold it out with a cage match for NGW in 2017. That match, in particular, is one of my very best. Frustratingly, it is yet to be uploaded online. But maybe someday.
And finally where are some of the promotions fans can currently, see you in action?
You can catch me at most NGW events in the UK.
NORTH Wrestling in Newcastle.
WrestleGate in Nottingham.
Some of the frontline wrestling events.
Wrestleverse as ‘The Capo’
And the promotion that gave me my biggest break, All-Star Wrestling.
Overseas, I’ll be returning to PWX in North Carolina, USA, this January. And later this year I’ll be returning to France for WS: France (before Brexit ruins that relationship)
Huge thank you to Nathan for his time. Make sure you give him a follow on Twitter and as always if you know of an indie wrestler who you feel deserves some time, let me know in the comments below or contact me here on Patreon
