AEW Dynamite 11.13.19 Recap w/Justin C

Jon Moxley defeated Michael Nakazawa

A quick Moxley squash. Moxley said he will continue to fight Kenny Omega until he is the last man standing, a possible hint to a future match. Moxley said while Omega is hurt, if anyone wants to step up to him to let him know. No one came out. And it was kind of weird because the way Moxley delivered the promo made it sound like someone was about to come out.

Dark Order defeated Jungle Boy and Marko Stunt

This match went about as well as you would expect. I’m not a fan of Stunt, but I think Jungle Boy can be a player for AEW if he is booked right. After the match Dark Order tried to get Stunt to join them, but he refused. Luchasaurus ended up coming for the save and cleaning house. The crowd was chanting for him before it happened and the pop was great. Luchasaurus came out looking like a star as well. He could be a big time singles star for them in a few months. I wouldn’t object to him fighting Jericho.

Darby Allin defeated Peter Avalon and Shawn Spears

Thank god Allin came out. I was getting really worried there for a second. A short match that saw Allin get the win over Avalon. Joey Janela came out and fought with Spears during the match as they brawled through the crowd. The story here is after the match. Darby Allin told Jon Moxley that he accepts. The thought of a Moxley/Allin match is very intriguing to me.

Nyla Rose won a squash match. I missed the name of the jobberette.

Allie came out for an interview. It was soon followed by Awesome Kong wrecking her. Oh and Brandi Rhodes took a lock of hair. The crowd popped for Kong, but not an extra peep when Brandi appeared.

Chris Jericho came out to brag about his Title win. MJF ended up coming out as well. MJF said he had something to get off his chest. MJF said Cody is a backstabber and didn’t care about the fans, and thought he could keep him under his thumb. MJF said Cody has been the real villain all along. MJF said AEW is better off and thanked Chris Jericho. MJF and Jericho then did a little skit. MJF said he heard Jericho wanted him to join his Inner Circle Jerk. MJF said he didn’t need to join the Inner Circle. Jericho said they are both similar. Jericho said MJF’s parents must have gotten horny watching him fight Juventu Guerrera on Nitro 25 years ago and he came out. Jericho and MJF tried doing some slap stick that really didn’t do too much for me. They both then asked who is the stupidest in AEW, and they said Cody. Cody ended up coming out and going after MJF and Jericho. That is until Wardlow came out and took out Cody. Wardlow ended up choking Cody over the ropes with his tie.

I thought the segment started strong with Jericho and MJF’s promo, but then died down when they both tried doing a fake comedy bit. It didn’t seem to click with the crowd either. And I think the majority of the crowd forgot about Wardlow.

PAC defeated Hangman Page

Well, I guess they aren’t fully going forward with Hangman Page right now. The match wasn’t better than their PPV one. PAC ended up kicking Page in the face then stomping on his head multiple times on the mat. It looked like the ref was going to go for a DQ, but PAC then hit the Red Arrow for the win. They put over PAC looking possessed after the match. Could they do PAC Jericho? That would be a weird one because it is two heels. But there is no face to step next and face PAC unless you are going to maybe do Moxley.

The Young Bucks and Santana/Ortiz were brawling backstage. At one point they opened a door and Orange Cassidy was just chilling. They brawled into the crowd. Santana and Ortiz end up putting Matt Jackson through the stage. They beat up Brandon Cutler who tried helping until Private Party came out.

SCU defeated Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara to retain the AEW Tag Titles

Well it looks like my answer to who will fight Chris Jericho next has been answered. Match only went about 12 minutes but it was fine. They were pushing Scorpio Sky pretty heavily during the tag tournament and that continued here with Sky getting the small package win over Chris Jericho. Sky vs Jericho will be a nice one off a few weeks down the road since we don’t know when AEW’s next PPV will be.

This was easily AEW’s weakest show so far. The first hour was a drag and didn’t really have much to it. The second hour picked up a bit with the MJF promo but nothing was stand out or must see on this show.

Until Next Time,
