WWE RAW 4.29.19: The Three Key Stories w/Justin C

1. High Comedy

I know we all laugh at WWE programming for how bad it is. But I don’t think I’ve laughed as hard as I have in awhile after two segments tonight. First we have the announcement of the RAW women in the Money in the Bank match. So Natalya, Dana Brooke, Naomi and Alexa Bliss cut the most over scripted promo you could possibly see. Naomi at one point says “I could beat you with my shoes on or off.” It came across super fake. Then we have the Firefly Funhouse segment. You know my thoughts on it. I just kept laughing for a good five minutes straight. Then of course I was subject to an awful Naomi match. It was not a good 15 minutes on this show.

2. Becky vs Lacey Evans Is More Interesting Than Becky vs Charlotte

When they announced Becky vs Charlotte again at Money in the Bank I openly groaned. I couldn’t believe they were going back to that well AGAIN. Maybe because it is fresh, but I really enjoyed that Becky/Lacey Evans pull apart brawl. They have been over done a lot lately, but I thought both women came off strong in the segment. Becky delivered another strong promo and challenged Lacey to come out and fight her after last week. And Lacey didn’t back down and started a brawl with Becky. New challengers are always good and Lacey Evans came off like she belonged out there with Becky in that short brawl they had.

3. Too Much Talking

There was something about the last segment between AJ Styles and Seth Rollins that didn’t click. I didn’t like the idea in the first place of giving these guys a full ten minute contract signing segment. Surprisingly, the crowd was not into anything AJ Styles said. The brief times Rollins talked they were behind him. And I think the long talking between these two caused the crowd to not get fully invested in the mini brawl they had at the end. We still have three weeks before Money in the Bank, so they have time to recover. But I didn’t think that was a good start for these two going into their program. Styles just wasn’t making good points in his time talking.

Random Thoughts

-This Superstar Shakeup is still going to be a thing until every wrestler switches shows twice.

-With segments like The Revival “getting caught” shaving their backs, you wonder why they are hesitant to sign new contracts.

-Everyone in the UFC is lucky Shane McMahon is in the WWE. He could kill some people with these submissions!

-Remember when you actually had to qualify for a Money in the Bank match? So as much as I like Ricochet, shouldn’t Bobby Roode have more of a case being in the match since he beat Ricochet last week?

-With Samoa Joe losing this week, he better kill Dominic next week.

Until Next Time,

Justin C
