WWE RAW 3.11.19: The Three Key Stories w/Justin C

1. And I Still Don’t Care About Batista vs Triple H

They had an opportunity to win me over with their segment tonight. And it didn’t work. All the segment consisted of was Batista and Triple H yelling at each other. Batista yelled about Triple H giving him what he wants, and Triple H yelled about not giving Batista what he wants. That went on for about five minutes before they finally settled on having a match at Wrestlemania. It did nothing to add to the feud. It did nothing to make it personal. I felt no real hatred there. It pretty much did nothing to include what happened to Ric Flair a few weeks ago. Even with the No Holds Barred stipulation I just do not care. This was a lost opportunity here to add some to the program and they didn’t take advantage.

2. Can We Please Have A Long Term Mid-Card Title Champion?

Just when I think they might have a long term Intercontinental Champion in Finn Balor, they go ahead and have him lose to Bobby Lashley tonight on RAW. And now Lashley is IC Champ again. You know it would have been cool to have Balor hold it until Wrestlemania and maybe lose it to Ricochet. Or hell, maybe have Balor hold it for a long time? Instead we have to play hot potato with it again. Hopefully Samoa Joe is a long term Champion on Smackdown. But I hate that we can’t have any kind of long term mid-card Title holder. And when they did with Shinsuke on Smackdown he was never used. Of course the WWE doesn’t even know if Lashley and Lio Rush are still a team from week to week so this booking shouldn’t surprise me. But 50/50 booking reigns supreme.

3. And So Begins Operation Re-Build Drew McIntyre

Back at the end of 2018, myself and my colleagues at HTCWrestling talked about how Drew McIntyre could be in line for a big 2019. Then in typical WWE fashion they completely cooled him off to start the year by dragging him down by teaming him with Baron Corbin. And they started the reclamation project tonight by having him beat the shit out of Dean Ambrose. It is pretty obvious they are building McIntyre up to fight Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania, especially with McIntyre taking out Reigns before his match with Baron Corbin. But if they build him up to just lose to Reigns is it even worth it? It is a start I guess. But this all could have been avoided if the WWE just kept building up McIntyre like a star from the end of last year.

Other Notes

-With Alexa Bliss now being the host of Wrestlemania, I’m really starting to think she doesn’t have much of an in ring career left.

-And Braun Strowman looks like he is just going to chase around the SNL guys. This guy is going to go from big deal to nothing at the last two Wrestlemanias.

-If Stevie Ray doesn’t drop the terms “fruit booties” and “suckas gots to know” during his Hall of Fame speech then why are we even here?

-Hopefully they give Kurt Angle an opponent he can have a good match with and not Baron Corbin.

-Poor Dana Brooke got sacrificed at the alter of Ronda Rousey.

Until Next Time,
