WWE Smackdown Live Hits and Misses 11.13.18 w/ The Chairman

The landscape in WWE has been turned upside down in the past few days and the Survivor Series card has changed drastically as well. Find out what happened in this week’s hits and misses for Smackdown Live.

HIT: Becky Lynch Remains the Champion

Becky Lynch led an invasion of the Smackdown women into Raw Monday night and won the battle. Unfortunately the battle came with consequences. Becky suffered injuries to her face and a concussion and has been ruled out for Survivor Series meaning the dream match against Ronda Rousey is off. Fortunately though Becky is still the Smackdown Live Women’s Champion. There was fear she would be vacating the title tonight, but that was not the case. Instead Paige gave Becky the option to pick her replacement to face Rousey at Survivor Series. Everybody that’s an anybody knows she was going to pick Charlotte Flair and sure enough she did. Charlotte will now be going to Survivor Series to take on Rousey in another dream match. Many speculated that Charlotte and Ronda was a potential Wrestlemania main event, but it looks like we’re getting it Survivor Series with five days notice due to circumstances.

MISS: Hug It Out?

I’m fine with Becky showing respect to Charlotte for being a tough competitor. I’m fine with Becky shaking Charlotte’s hand and wishing her luck. However the hug was a little weird to me. Just a few short weeks ago these two women tried to kill each other for the right to call themselves Smackdown Live Women’s Champion. You can’t tell me they’re going to just put all that under the table and hug each other like that? Definitely a moment I could’ve done without. However I guess if I look at things in the big picture, Charlotte and Becky are going to have to make amends if they ever plan on going forward with this Four Horsewomen match everyone keeps speculating.

HIT: And NEW……….

Another major storyline going on is the WWE Championship scene. AJ Styles has just surpassed one year as WWE Champion, but it doesn’t appear he’s going to make it much further. Paul Heyman made a surprise appearance on Smackdown Live and happened to mention Daniel Bryan’s name. This got AJ Styles referring to his old rival, or so he thought? Bryan came out and threatened Styles and the two came to blows. Eventually Shane McMahon had enough and made a title match with Bryan forfeiting his spot on the Survivor Series team. This match was alot better than their last one and definitely had you on the edge of your seat. You didn’t know who was going to win because it went back and forth. Of course when I seen Charles Robinson behind Bryan when AJ went for the Phenomenal Forearm, the writing was on the wall. The ref goes down and Bryan resorts to heel tactics and low blows Styles. A Running Knee later and we have a new WWE Champion and a new match at Survivor Series. AJ Styles is out and Daniel Bryan is in to challenge Brock Lesnar.

MISS: Did Daniel Bryan Have to Turn Heel Tonight?

Everyone has an opinion and some are for the heel turn, others are confused by it. Was it smart to turn Bryan heel tonight and wrestle another heel Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series? Will Bryan get cheered regardless at Survivor Series because he’s facing Lesnar? There’s alot of confusion going on right now and the best case scenario is to let the story play out I suppose. The strangest part of all of this now is that AJ Styles is completely off the Survivor Series card. Unless Styles has an injury we don’t know about hence dropping the title, all of this seems sudden. I really don’t know what to expect, but I hope the E has a plan for what they did. My biggest concern of all is Bryan has been feuding with The Miz for so long and now there’s nowhere to go there unless Miz becomes a babyface and that’s just a weird concept to think about.

HIT: Nakamura Doesn’t Like Being the Third Wheel

Shinsuke Nakamura hasn’t had a meaningful feud on Smackdown Live in weeks and he’s the United States Champion. Though the one benefit of Shinsuke holding the secondary title of Smackdown Live is that at Survivor Series he faces the secondary title holder of Raw which is Seth Rollins the Intercontinental Champion. Definitely a dream match of mine as a huge Seth Rollins fan so I’m excited for this one. Nakamura cut a unique promo tonight disappointed in Rollins for basically forgetting about him and it’s breaking his heart. Everyone knows Rollins is preoccupied with Dean Ambrose and that could very well be the X factor in what cost Rollins the match at Survivor Series. That of course remains to be seen and this will definitely be the match of the night in my opinion.

MISS: New Day vs The Bar (again….)

In the feud that never dies, all three New Day members take on The Bar and Big Show. This feud has been ran into the ground already and it just needs to stop. The Usos are the real stars of the Smackdown Live tag team division and need to recapture the titles. The Raw tag team division is incredibly weak and it’d be nice to see one of these established Smackdown Live tag teams swap over there for the Revival. These teams can’t feud forever.
