WWE RAW 9.17.18: The Three Key Stories w/Justin C
1. Drew McIntyre Is One Of The Lone Bright Spots Of RAW
It has become quite clear over the last few weeks that the WWE is building of Drew McIntyre for a big push down the road. He was the star of the tag team match at Hell In A Cell and he defeated Dean Ambrose tonight on RAW and looked good again. With Seth Rollins beating Dolph Ziggler for the IC Title, I have a feeling McIntyre is going to be next in line for the IC Title. The pairing with Ziggler has been good for Drew so far and I think he’s looked better since coming up to the main roster than he ever did down in NXT, or even in his previous WWE run. If the WWE can handle this right (lol) McIntyre could be their next big star in 2019.
2. Saudi Arabia Time Again? Ugh
Well the WWE has another show in Saudi Arabia coming up again in November. This one is being called WWE Crown Jewel. And of course it comes right after the Evolution PPV. And we get to see Roman defend the Universal Title against Braun Strowman and Brock Lesnar. Thanks to the Saudi Arabia money, Brock Lesnar gets seven figures to show up and work a 15 minute match. And we get to listen to WWE and Saudi propaganda about how progressive they have become (spoiler alert: they haven’t). Not only that, but they are likely to get D-X vs the Brothers of Destruction too. It must be nice to have money to throw around. This Saudi stuff rubs me the wrong way. I get why the WWE takes the money, but the fact that they have to try and force a false narrative on us about the country is nauseating.
3. Poor Sasha Banks and Bayley
There is a decent amount of stuff going on in the RAW Women’s division. You have Ronda Rousey now teaming with the Bellas (sigh) against the Riott Squad. You have Nia Jax back being pals with Ember Moon to go against Alexa Bliss, Mickie James and Alicia Fox. Then you have Sasha Banks and Bayley. Probably the two best actual wrestlers in this division. And they are stuck doing nothing. It is a damn shame that the WWE doesn’t know how to properly use these two in any way, shape or form. They must wish they were on Smackdown with how much attention Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch are getting. I was looking forward to Sasha and Bayley having a similar feud to those two at some point. Now? I don’t know what to expect. It is like they are being punished for being good wrestlers.
-Remember when it looked like the WWE cared about Dana Brooke for like two weeks?
-The only time I’ve cared about this Undertaker/Triple H match is when Shawn Michaels has been involved.
-I think I like the pairing of Lio Rush and Lashley. It gives Lashley a guy that actually has some charisma to work with.
-Should we put out a “Missing” ad for Finn Balor?
-Corey Graves trying to get Renee to share her and Dean’s pillow talk was unintentionally funny. (Graves said he knew Renee had the chance to talk to Dean after last night.)
-That main event went really long and had an unnecessary run in.
