WWE RAW 8.6.18: The Three Key Stories w/Justin C
1. Can We Change Up The Opening Of RAW Just Once?
I’m pretty sure that every opening segment since Money in the Bank, outside of the one immediately after, has started with either Roman Reigns, Kurt Angle talking about the Universal Title, or a bunch of people talking about Brock Lesnar and the Universal Title. Smackdown, meanwhile, has changed it up pretty much every week. Last week they started with Becky Lynch. The week before it was Randy Orton. It constantly changes every week which makes the show seem different. RAW seems like you are starting with the same show from the week before. But of course, this is because everyone is treated as a step below Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns on RAW. That isn’t the case on Smackdown and that is why it has become the more watchable show.
2. I Can’t Believe They Are Doing The Losing Streak With Braun Strowman
If you have been a fan of the WWE like I have for such a long time, then you know what happens after someone wins the Money in the Bank briefcase: They go on a losing streak. Now I thought for sure that they would not do this with Braun Strowman when he won. I thought they would protect him. I was fine with him losing the Kevin Owens at Extreme Rules. But they’ve had him lose by countout and DQ the last few weeks to show that he could lose the Money in the Bank contract if that happens at SummerSlam. I just think that is stupid. And they are really risking cooling off Strowman heading into SummerSlam. Assuming Strowman beats Owens, he needs to cash in at SummerSlam. Or they risk cooling him off even more when it comes to his booking.
3. Ronda Rousey’s Match Was Once Again Laid Out Perfectly
There is one thing that the WWE is doing right and that is the booking of Ronda Rousey. It was laid out perfectly. Alicia Fox got a bit of offense in because of Alexa. But then Rousey went into killer mode and it was perfect. Alexa Bliss sold being scared perfectly. It was well put together. Ronda continues to look great and exceed all expectations.
-Remember when Bobby Roode was the NXT Champion? Now he is picking up “big” wins over Mojo Rawley.
-Braun Strowman hiding under the interview stage. Who does he think he is, Jon Jones hiding from USADA?
-Is it in the contract of Seth Rollins that he has to wrestle the same people over a four month span then it resets?
-Whoever decided to change the B Team’s music should be fired. That theme was awesome.
-Man did Paul Heyman go all out to try and sell this Lesnar/Reigns match. He did a great job of selling being terrified.
