WWE RAW 7.9.18: The Three Key Stories w/Justin C

1. I Still Have A Problem With Pull Apart Locker Room Brawls

So Roman Reigns and Bobby Lashley started the show with a pull apart brawl that had the entire (well 90%) of the locker room come out and break it up. To the WWE’s credit, they got a Boston crowd into the brawl that Lashley and Reigns had. It finally added a bit of intensity into their feud. Of course, it is odd that neither of them mentioned Brock Lesnar at all. But at the same time, it makes the guys breaking up the brawl look like geeks most of the time when they try to break this up and can’t. I saw Roman throw away Finn Balor like it was nothing. Guys just eating weak punches from Reigns and Lashley and going down. While the brawl accomplished what the WWE hoped it would, it makes everyone trying to break it up look stupid and meaningless when they are out there.

2. Bobby Roode Needs A Heel Turn

Last week I talked about Finn Balor being the biggest waste of talent in the WWE. While Roode is not at the talent level of Balor, he definitely is someone that should be being used better than he currently is. The only thing Roode could do to make people care about him again would be a heel turn. He comes off really bad as the cheesy corny face that he has been since joining the main roster. Roode’s whole personality screams heel and the WWE needs to go about a way to make him that. How do you start? Do what they did with Nakamura and change his music. Roode will be nothing more than a mid carder in the WWE, but at least if he turns heel in the near future fans might care about him again rather than barely care like they are right now.

3. No Mention Of Brock Lesnar Tonight Huh?

I’m assuming most of you know by now that Brock Lesnar showed up at UFC 226 this past weekend and had a shoving contest with newly crowned UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier. Lesnar re-entered the USADA pool and will be eligible to fight in January. But there was no mention of that or Lesnar’s name on RAW tonight. So that means one of two things: The WWE doesn’t want to mention anything UFC related, or they want you to forget about Lesnar again because he won’t be back for awhile. Dave Meltzer says Lesnar is under contract until August and has one match left. If they don’t take the Universal Title off Lesnar at SummerSlam, get used to not seeing the Universal Champ around until Wrestlemania. My guess is Brock would probably fight for the UFC in March. But no mention of Brock at all is interesting to me. Hopefully we just get the Title off him at SummerSlam, because he is likely going to lose to Cormier if they fight.

Other Notes

-If they start turning Mickie James and Alexa Bliss into the IIconics with the hand holding and hugging they are going to get the minds of a lot of male wrestling fans racing.

-To the surprise of no one, the WWE writers can even write a promo for Seth Rollins that makes him sound awful.

-Elias should drop an album for real then do a whole RAW singing it. Think of the ratings.

-If Sasha and Bayley don’t kick each other’s ass next week then the feud is finally dead to me.

-I may be the only one but I like that Mojo is getting something to do.

-Drew McIntyre vs Seth Rollins was a good main event. But it should have been saved for a PPV in my opinion.

Until Next Time,
