WWE RAW 6.18.18: The Three Key Stories w/Justin C
1. After Not Liking The Result Last Night, I Loved The Opening Segment On RAW
If you read my Money in the Bank Review then you know I was lukewarm at best at the result of Alexa Bliss winning Money in the Bank and becoming RAW Women’s Champion yet again. But tonight’s opening segment was great on RAW. Alexa did her typical humble brag about being Champion. Ronda comes out, doesn’t say a word. Alexa trash talks and calls Ronda an “over hyped rookie” and then BOOM, Ronda snaps. Ronda not talking and acting tough and pissed off is great. Her briefcase shots on Kurt needed some work, but the crowd was fully behind her putting Alexa through a table and attacking refs. Ronda is advertised for the RAW in Buffalo after Extreme Rules, which is 28 days away. So that’s close enough in wrestling speak to 30 days for her return. But they did a great job of getting me to care about a potential Ronda/Alexa match after this segment.
2. Dolph Ziggler Is Intercontinental Champion But I Wish It Was Drew McIntyre
When Dolph and Drew’s music hit to open Seth Rollins Open Challenge I was really hoping it would be McIntyre answering it. Instead we got Dolph. The match was fine, but I really wish it was McIntyre winning the IC Title instead of Ziggler. I like both guys as a combo but the Title being on McIntyre would have made him more credible to some people that still doubt him. Ziggler having the IC Title doesn’t really do much for me. I would hope maybe Rollins moves on to the Universal Title for SummerSlam but I don’t think that is the case. Maybe Drew and Dolph should challenge for the Tag Titles now and let them run rough shot over RAW. Maybe I am just being picky about the results in the WWE over the last two days. I’ll let it play out. I will say it is at least the right step to make Dolph and Drew a main event combo.
3. Weren’t We Here Last Year?
At last year’s Extreme Rules they had a fatal five way match to determine who would fight Brock Lesnar at Great Balls of Fire. At this year’s Extreme Rules, we get a “multiman” match to determine who Brock’s next opponent is, most likely at SummerSlam. The problem is Samoa Joe isn’t here to save us this time. They already announced Roman Reigns and Bobby Lashley for the match. Braun wants in, KO wants in, Finn wants in, Elias wants in. Seth Rollins didn’t say he wants in while he refocuses on regaining his IC Title. I mean I’m pretty confident Roman Reigns is winning because the WWE hates all of us. But do we really need to see that again? Give someone like Finn, or hell I would even take Lashley, a chance to fight Brock.
-The B Team’s Impersonation of Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt was funny. We better get an IRS appearance before this feud is over.
-I see we are in the “Cool Down” mode with Braun Strowman already after winning Money in the Bank. Could we not wait a few weeks?
-So the Riott Squad saw Randy Savage put lipstick on Kevin Nash on an episode of Nitro on the WWE Network and decided to start doing the same? Hopefully they don’t drive a white hummer.
-What are the odds Bayley and Sasha Banks reconcile by next week?
-I jokingly suggested a Roman Reigns vs Bobby Lashley feud earlier in the night to someone. I fully apologize for bringing this upon us.
-Constable Corbin wrestling in his constable suit and pants is great.
