WWE Smackdown Live Hits and Misses 4.3.18 w/ The Chairman

Hey wrestling fans! This is the Chairman with this weeks hit and misses of Smackdown Live for the go home show before Wrestlemania.

HIT: Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn Invade Smackdown Live

Just before the main event, Zayn and Owens jumped the barricade, stood on the commentator table, and cut a awesome promo. Both men took shots at Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan. What I think got this promo over was Zayn bringing up Brie and his daughter Birdie. This feud got personal and I’m curious to see who walks out of Wrestlemania victorious. This may very well be the final time I cover Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn in this article for the foreseeable future.

MISS: Insert Random Tag Match Here

Eight competitors in the Andre the Giant Battle Royal had a little four on four exhibition match. We seen Primo Colon in the ring for the first time in months. The ring was full of superstars that WWE clearly have no long term plans for. This basically just screamed we had nothing planned for this segment so here you go fans.

HIT: Asuka Confronts the Champ

After a solid match between Charlotte Flair and Natalya, a special guest arrived. The challenger for the Smackdown Live Women’s Championship, Asuka. I’m happy there was another segment involving these two in the ring together before the big match at Wrestlemania. Asuka was about to drop her catchphrase and Charlotte cut her off by stealing the microphone and dishing some trash talk of her own. This match is going to be fantastic.

MISS: Mixed Match Challenge

I know this technically isn’t Smackdown Live, but I will voice my displeasure with having Asuka meeting Charlotte Flair in this exhibition match. What could’ve been a special moment by having these two engage each other for the first time was cast aside. They easily could’ve disqualified Charlotte for being inactive and just had Becky Lynch fill in again as Roode’s partner. While we’re here. The second Asuka’s streak got brought into this ruined any interest I had. Sure enough Asuka and Miz won the tournament keeping her streak intact. I’m confident that Charlotte beats Asuka at Wrestlemania to end this streak once in for all.

HIT: Nakamura and Styles Team Up

Sunday we’re getting the dream match AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura. Smackdown Live however they’re teaming up to take on their recent problem Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable. I’m pumped that Benjamin and Gable have been getting featured lately in this spot. I think both of them are tremendous workers. Styles and Nakamura got the job done only this time the roles were reversed. Nakamura got ambushed after the match and Styles made the save. Styles then teased the Phenomenal Forearm on Nakamura. In my opinion, this is the main event. This is the match I want to see and if it were up to alot of my followers on Twitter, I’m confident we’d put this match on at the end of the night. Sadly though we’re probably getting stuck with a half assed out the door Brock Lesnar performance against Vince’s boy Roman Reigns to close the show.

MISS: Bobby Roode helps Randy Orton

Rusev and Jinder Mahal as I predicted last week had their match tonight as expected. Rusev Day was victorious once again, but Orton cut the celebration short with an RKO outta nowhere. Aiden English got the jump on Orton and beat him down pretty good. English made his way to the top and was looking to hit a big move, but Roode at the commentary table stood up and pushed English off and into an RKO. Confused why Roode was helping his rival, but this is the glorious babyface Roode we just have to deal with. Really hoping a heel turn is coming. Roode works best as a heel.
