G1 Climax A Block Match: Hirooki Goto vs Yuji Nagata

-As someone who is still new to New Japan, it is weird seeing Yuji Nagata not coming out taking a selfie with Sonny Ohno. Also weird knowing Nagata was treated as a jobber in WCW, and then finding out his history in New Japan.

-Nagata throws a fake kick then nails one. Goto comes back with a hard lariat clothesline.

-Goto head slaps Nagata, which pisses him off. Goto throws Nagata into the corner and Nagata bounces right back with a knee to the gut.

-Goto spinning heel kicks Nagata into the corner then hits a neckbraker to the knee for two.

-Nagata blocks a GTR then applies an armbreaker. Love when Nagata’s eyes go to the back of his head during it. Goto gets to the ropes though.

-The crowd firmly behind Nagata, he hits an enziguri kick and a Saito suplex but only gets two.

-They exchange forearms, followed by kicks and clotheslines. Goto applies a sleeper but Nagata gets out of it. But Goto ducks a clothesline and hits a GTR for the win.

WINNER: Hirooki Goto

G1 Climax A Block Match: Tomohiro Ishii vs Togi Makabe

-Both men shoulder tackle then forearm the fuck out of each other to start. Makabe finally takes Ishii down.

-On the outside Ishii tosses Makabe sternum first into all four corners of the metal railing.

-Ishii chops Makabe a couple of times in the throat. Makabe then bounces back with a clothesline.

-Ishii connects on a German suplex then goes to the top and hits a great superplex for two.

-Makabe goes for a clothesline but Ishii clotheslines Makabe’s right arm. Makabe then clotheslines Ishii with his left arm.

-They go to the top. Ishii headbutts Makabe but Makabe pulls himself back up with his legs then belly-to-belly’s Ishii off the top. Ishii misses the King Kong Knee Drop though.

-These stiff double clotheslines hurt me watching them. Ishii finally knocks Makabe off his feet then hits a sliding lariat for two.

-Ishii hits a headbutt and follows it up with a lariat TO THE FACE. Ishii only gets two though. But Ishii hits a vertical brainbuster suplex after for the win.

WINNER: Tomohiro Ishii

G1 Climax A Block Match: Zack Sabre Jr vs Kota Ibushi

-Both men look for control on the ground. Ibushii slaps ZSJ down. They then exchange counter ups with the neck, but ZSJ grabs Ibushi’s neck  with both feet and does a quick twist.

-ZSJ’s target is the neck of Ibushi.

-Ibushi knocks ZSJ down with a chest kick. Ibushi goes for a standing moonsault but he falls right into a triangle submission from ZSJ.

-ZSJ chops Ibushi but Ibushi tells him to keep bringing it. Ibushi lands some kicks of his own and goes for a bicycle kick but ZSJ counters it into an ankle lock into an STF.

-ZSJ flies at Ibushi and applies a triangle choke. Ibushi lifts up ZSJ in the choke and hits a powerbomb for the win.

WINNER: Kota Ibushi

G1 Climax A Block Match: Bad Luck Fale vs Hiroshi Tanahashi

-Tanahashi goes for a couple roll-ups early on which causes Fale to regroup on the outside.

-On the outside Fale goes to work on the bad arm of Tanahashi.

-Tanahashi comes back and hits a German suplex in the ring. He goes for a bodyslam but Fale falls on top of Tanahashi.

-Tanahashi skins the cat with one arm, but walks right back into a spear from Fale.

-Tanahashi counters the Bad Luck Fall into a DDT. He then hits a crossbody to the outside. Tanahashi hits the slingblade on the apron and Fale doesn’t beat the count back in and Tanahashi gets the countout win.

WINNER: Hiroshi Tanahashi

G1 Climax A Block Match: Tetsuya Naito vs Yoshi-Hashi

-Naito dropkicks Hashi to the back of the head then hits a neckbreaker to the knee.

-Naito starts working over the neck of Hashi.

-Hashi fights back with a blockbuster neckbreaker than a head scissors take over.

-Now Hashi starts working over the neck of Naito.

-Naito hits a super hurricarrana then a backbreaker for two. He goes for Destino but Hashi blocks it and drops Naito face first.

-After a flurry of exchanges Hashi catches Naito mid air with knees to the chest.

-Hashi applies the butterfly lock. Naito looks like he is ready to pass out but fights his way to the ropes.

-Naito counters Hashi into a Destino for two. Hashi kicks out of the first but Naito hits a second one for the win.

WINNER: Tetsuya Naito
