WWE RAW 3.7.16: News & Notes

-Sami Zayn made his return/re-debut on RAW. After Kevin Owens defeated Neville, Owens went on the attack. He went to powerbomb Neville on the outside, but Sami Zayn came out to make the save. Owens and Zayn brawled in the ring before Zayn sent Owens out of the ring.

JC’s Take: Sami Zayn vs Kevin Owens is possibly the most logical match that the WWE could do at Wrestlemania. There’s been history between them since Owens debut on NXT (and obviously more before that). The WWE really shouldn’t do a multi-man match here. If you want to do that, make it the United States Championship match. Owens/Zayn sells itself and will do perfectly fine on its own.

-New Day defeated Team Y2AJ in a very good match to retain the Tag Team Titles. After the match, Chris Jericho attacked AJ Styles and hit him with three Codebreakers. Jericho said he was sick of the fans chanting AJ Styles.

JC’s Take: First let me say, go out of your way to watch this match. AJ Styles was the star of this match. The heel turn was coming. We all knew it. If you didn’t and bought one of those Y2AJ shirts, that’s your own fault. I’m expecting Jericho and Styles to fight at Wrestlemania. I would like to see a stipulation added to the match. Two out of Three Falls?

-Shane McMahon started the show. Vince McMahon smashed a picture of him with Shane when Shane was a kid. Vince then wanted security to remove Shane, but Shane “beat them up” with some of his famous punches that he threw back when he was taking out all of Legacy.

JC’s Take: This feud still continues to have zero logic behind it. I mean, if Shane continues to throw punches like he did on RAW, do we really think The Undertaker will sell them? There’s no way that he should. This might be the laziest thrown together “Top 3” match at Wrestlemania in quite sometime.

-In the main event, Dean Ambrose beat Bray Wyatt via DQ after the Wyatt Family attacked Dean. Triple H came out after and had a staredown with Bray which ended with Bray looking at the WWE Title and leaving. Triple H started taking apart the announce table, but when he came back into the ring, Ambrose hit Dirty Deeds on HHH. The show ended with Ambrose holding the WWE Title.

JC’s Take: They had to give the sell that Ambrose has a chance of winning the WWE Title this Saturday and that ending did it. Ambrose also delivered a solid promo in the middle of the show. It just once again shows what could have been with an Ambrose/HHH WWE Title program at Wrestlemania. Lesnar/Reigns 2 with a definitive winner this time would have worked just as well.

Random One Liners

-Charlotte needs to wear tank tops like she did on RAW tonight more often. And as far as a heel character goes, tonight might have been some of her best work.

-Are we really getting a Lana/Brie Bella match at Wrestlemania?

-The person that decided Ryback needed to cut a rambling promo backstage on Kalisto should be fired immediately.

-New subscribers to the WWE Network get Wrestlemania for free. I’ve been a subsriber since the beginning, what do Ii get?

Until Next Time,
